GTA 6 launch trailer: the song, Trailer 3 and 10 details you missed
No countdown, no warning: Rockstar just dropped the GTA 6 launch trailer, with a brand-new Justice track and Jason's backstory.
The GTA 6 launch trailer went live on Thursday, October 15, 2026, around 9 a.m. Eastern, five weeks before the November 19 release. It runs about 90 seconds, was captured on PS5 according to Rockstar, and debuts "Flower in a Hurricane," a new song from Justice, the French duo scoring the whole game.
GTA 6 launch trailer song: who's behind "Flower in a Hurricane"
The music is the headline. "Flower in a Hurricane" is credited to Justice featuring Tame Impala, SZA and King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard, and Rockstar describes Justice as the composers of Grand Theft Auto VI's original score. That's a bold pick: instead of a film composer, Rockstar handed its biggest game ever to an electronic act known for distorted, stadium-sized synths. Wccftech reports the track will sit on Grand Theft Auto VI: The Album, the official soundtrack release.
The official description sets up the story in a few lines: "Jason and Lucia have always known the deck is stacked against them." An easy score goes wrong, dropping them into a criminal conspiracy that stretches across the state of Leonida, and they'll have to rely on each other more than ever to make it out alive.
Is this Trailer 3? Yes, just with a different name
If you've been searching for "GTA 6 Trailer 3," this is it. Rockstar simply branded it as the Launch Trailer. Here's how it fits into the official video timeline listed on Rockstar's site:
| Video | Posted | Gap from previous |
|---|---|---|
| Trailer 1 | Dec 4, 2023 | n/a |
| Trailer 2 | May 6, 2025 | ~17 months |
| An Extended Look | Aug 27, 2026 | ~16 months |
| Launch Trailer | Oct 15, 2026 | ~7 weeks |
We broke down the likely timing in our look at what Rockstar's playbook predicted for Trailer 3. The surprise was the zero-hype drop: Rockstar didn't even announce it the day before.
10 details from the GTA 6 launch trailer you may have missed
We cross-checked the footage against breakdowns from GameSpot, TechRadar, GamesRadar+ and VGC. Anything that's interpretation rather than fact is flagged.
- Jason's army past is real. He narrates leaving the military on bad terms, and says it's why nobody will lend to someone like him.
- Lucia calls him from prison. TechRadar reads this as a sign the prologue plays out from Jason's side.
- The ankle monitor. Lucia wears one in several shots, so a chunk of this footage comes from early in the story, right after her release.
- A shower scene. Their relationship is front and center, matching the game's M rating for strong sexual content.
- Tactical gear in the water. Jason wades through water with two men behind him. Some think it's a military flashback; that's speculation for now.
- A helicopter slams into a building. Pure Rockstar set-piece energy.
- Lucia climbs an airplane's landing gear. Expect at least one mission built around a plane.
- Jason sneaks aboard a huge ship. Stealth looks like it'll matter, not just gunfights.
- Bank robberies with what look like quick-time prompts. We'll need hands-on time to know how heavy those get.
- Vice City nightlife. A club dance floor, a rooftop leap into a pool and plenty of police chases.

Is it gameplay or cutscenes?
Both, and mostly vibes. Rockstar says everything was captured in-game on PS5, but there's no HUD and no mechanic gets explained. As Wccftech put it, the trailer is about how the game feels, not how it plays. Also impossible to miss: PlayStation branding everywhere, and Rockstar's page says the game "Plays Best On PS5." Xbox Series X|S players still get it the same day.
Bonus: GTA 6 can win Game of the Year
The same day, Kotaku and Vice pointed to The Game Awards' official rule: games must be commercially available by Friday, November 20, 2026, at 9 p.m. PT. GTA 6 clears that by one day. The show airs December 10, so the open question is whether jurors will have played enough of it in three weeks.
And if that Justice track has you hooked, here's how to listen to all six GTA 6 radio stations before launch.
Our take
This is exactly what a launch trailer should be. Nobody needs to be sold on GTA 6 at this point, so Rockstar went for feeling over features, and the Bonnie-and-Clyde-under-palm-trees energy lands. The Justice choice is the most interesting call here: it signals a sound identity that's sharper and more modern than any GTA score before it. The one thing that gives us pause is those quick-time prompts during heists. Used sparingly, fine. If they're everywhere, expect complaints.
