GTA 6 PC Q1 2027: what the new report means for you

GamesBeat says GTA 6 hits PC between January and March 2027. That's a 2 to 4 month wait, not 19 months like GTA 5.

GTA 6 still has no official PC release date, but a GamesBeat report published October 13, 2026 says Rockstar is targeting Q1 2027, meaning January through March. If it holds, PC players would wait just two to four months after the November 19 console launch, the shortest gap for a modern GTA by a mile.

GTA 6 PC Q1 2027: what the report actually says

The story comes from GamesBeat reporter Alexander Lee, who cites four industry sources familiar with Rockstar's plans, all speaking anonymously. Rockstar didn't respond to GamesBeat, and it hadn't answered PC Gamer or TechSpot either by the time their follow-ups went live. So to be clear: GTA 6 is still only announced for PS5 and Xbox Series X|S, and Rockstar has never officially confirmed a PC version.

GamesBeat ties the timing to two things we already knew. Rockstar bought Cfx.re, the team behind the FiveM roleplay platform (where every GTA RP server lives on PC), back in August 2023. And Twitch CEO Dan Clancy told Bloomberg at Tokyo Game Show that GTA 6 multiplayer is coming "next year." An early 2027 PC launch would set the stage for that community-driven content.

Rockstar has never moved this fast

PC players are used to waiting on Rockstar. Here's how long the gap has been on its biggest games:

GameConsole launchPC launchGap
GTA IIIOctober 2001May 2002~7 months
GTA IVApril 2008December 2008~7 months
GTA VSept. 17, 2013April 14, 2015~19 months
Red Dead Redemption 2October 2018November 2019~13 months
GTA 6 (per GamesBeat)Nov. 19, 2026Jan.–Mar. 20272–4 months

That would cut the GTA V wait by roughly 80%. When we broke down this history in our GTA 6 PC release date analysis, our best guess was late 2027. This report, if accurate, blows that up.

Why it could be true, and why to stay skeptical

The case for. Q1 2027 ends on March 31, which is also the end of Take-Two's fiscal year, so a PC launch there would juice the annual numbers. Back in May, Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick told Bloomberg that Rockstar always starts on console to serve its core audience, but he also noted PC can account for 45% to 50% of sales on some titles. That's a lot of money to leave on the table for 19 months, especially with leaks from Cyberleek already putting pressure on the studio.

The case against. PC Gamer's Andy Chalk isn't buying it yet. A post-holiday launch lands when wallets are thin, and confirming a near-term PC version could push some players to skip the console release, especially the $99.99 Ultimate Edition. The sources are anonymous, and this game has already slipped twice. Meanwhile, a popular theory on Reddit says Rockstar wants to get ahead of a possible PS5 emulator. There's no evidence for that right now; treat it as fan speculation.

Our take: credible, not confirmed

Four sources and a well-established outlet make this worth taking seriously, and the fiscal-year logic adds up. But we're not calling it until Rockstar does. Circle November 9: Take-Two reports quarterly earnings that day, with a call at 1:30 p.m. PT / 4:30 p.m. ET. If a "platform extension" shows up in the release slate before March 31, that's the strongest signal we'll get. And no, there's still no legit way to play GTA 6 on PC on November 19, not even through the cloud, as we explained in our breakdown of GTA 6 and Xbox Cloud Gaming.

Should you wait for GTA 6 on PC? Pick your lane

  1. You already own a PS5 or Xbox Series X|S: play on November 19. Dodging three months of spoilers is worth more than higher frame rates.
  2. You only have a modern gaming PC: wait. Buying a $500 console for a 2 to 4 month head start only makes sense if spoilers would ruin it for you.
  3. Your PC is 5+ years old: hold off on any upgrade. No requirements exist yet, and anything you read claiming otherwise is made up.
  4. You're here for RP and multiplayer: wait. Online reportedly isn't coming before 2027, and RP lives on PC.
  5. Still on the fence about pre-ordering on console: no rush, pre-load opens November 12. Compare editions in our Standard vs. Ultimate pre-order guide.
