Here's the official record. Trailer 1 landed on the evening of December 4, 2023, pushed out a few hours early after a leak. Trailer 2 followed on May 6, 2025, a full 518 days later. Then on Thursday, August 27, 2026, Rockstar premiered Grand Theft Auto VI: An Extended Look on Netflix at 3 p.m. ET, with the YouTube and official-site release six hours later. It ran about 26 minutes.

The overlap with Red Dead is hard to ignore. GTA 6's Extended Look hit 84 days before launch; RDR2's first gameplay trailer hit 78 days out. Carry that pattern forward and the next video lands around October 25, with a launch trailer around November 11, one day before the expected November 12 pre-load. To be clear, those are projections from Rockstar's history, not announced dates.
When will GTA 6 Trailer 3 come out? Three scenarios
- The RDR2 route (our pick): a second showcase in late October, likely focused on side activities or the wider state of Leonida, followed by a proper launch trailer in mid-November. TechRadar floated a "late October or early November" second gameplay video back in June.
- The GTA V route: a cinematic "official trailer" about three weeks before launch, which would put it around October 31. Halloween drop, anyone?
- The bare-minimum route: Rockstar decides the Extended Look said enough and ships only a launch trailer, with no numbered Trailer 3 at all. Beebom has flagged this as a real possibility.
Whichever way it goes, watch the Rockstar Newswire. The studio usually teases videos a day or two ahead, as it did for the Extended Look and for RDR2's gameplay trailers.
What the next trailer should show
Gameplay is largely covered: heists, the six-star wanted system, a chapter-based campaign in the RDR2 mold, and the new GTA 6 Criminal Profile system, from Professional to Psycho. So the smart move for the next trailer is story: Jason and Lucia's relationship, the supporting cast, and a few looks at parts of Leonida we've barely seen.
One word of caution on rumors. Footage from a development build has been circulating since October 8. It isn't confirmation of anything, and we won't be sharing it. A first-person mode, for one, has not been confirmed by Rockstar for launch.

The most logical play is a short, story-led trailer timed with pre-load to spark one final wave of hype. Translation: if you're holding off on pre-ordering until you see Trailer 3, you may be waiting until launch week. And if Rockstar pulls a late-October surprise, we'll happily eat our words.
