GTA 6 cars list: every confirmed vehicle, fuel and theft
Gas to pump, trackers on pricey rides, custom shops and an airboat: driving in GTA 6 comes with real decisions.
Yes, GTA 6 cars need gas: Rockstar co-director Rob Nelson confirmed it this summer, promising the system was built "in a way that's not annoying." On top of that, 40+ vehicles have already been spotted in official trailers and screenshots, and stealing cars is now a full system with special tools, security and resale values.
With GTA 6 out November 19, 2026 on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S, here's the full rundown, with what's official, what preview players reported, and what's still a question mark kept clearly apart.
GTA 6 cars list: what's been spotted so far
Rockstar hasn't published an official vehicle roster. The lists you see online, including Push Square's (44 vehicles) and Red Bull Gaming's, are built frame by frame from trailers and official screenshots, with names matched to models fans know from GTA 5. Here's the short version:
| Type | Spotted so far | Why it matters |
|---|---|---|
| Muscle | Buccaneer, Chino, Phoenix, Ruiner, Vigero ZX Convertible, Tulip | The backbone of the trailers' Florida vibe |
| Sports and supercars | Banshee, Comet S2 Cabrio, Growler, Furia, Zorrusso, Schafter V12 | Most valuable to steal, best protected |
| Trucks and off-road | Yosemite 1500, Dubsta, Contender, Outlaw, Blazer ATV | Built for swamps and mud parks |
| Bikes | Sanchez, Zombie Chopper, Manchez, BMX and Scorcher bicycles | Nimble, but you're exposed on impact |
| Boats | Marquis, Seashark jet ski, Squalo, airboats, kayak | Airboats are a series first |
| Air | Dodo seaplane, Shamal, Duster, Buzzard, Maverick, Sea Sparrow | Island hopping across Leonida |
| Police | Buffalo STX Pursuit, Interceptor, Sheriff SUV, Riot Van, Police Maverick | A bigger, meaner pursuit fleet |
Every brand is a Rockstar parody (Grotti, Pegassi, Declasse, Vapid, Bravado). As usual, there are no licensed real-world car makers, though the inspirations are obvious: Top Gear calls the '95 Grotti Cheetah the game's take on a Ferrari Testarossa.
Do GTA 6 cars need gas? How fuel works
This is the feature splitting the fanbase. Here's where things stand:
- Confirmed by Rockstar: speaking with Brazilian creator DavyJones after a studio visit, Rob Nelson said "fuel is also a thing" and that the team tried to make it "not annoying." A full tank lasts a long time, but a car you steal mid-chase with a quarter tank could run dry before you lose the cops. EVs need recharging now and then too.
- Reported by preview players (not detailed by Rockstar): you step out, grab the nozzle and hold R2/RT; a full tank takes up to about 10 seconds with an animation and an on-screen countdown. The fuel gauge reportedly only shows up when you're running low, and gas stations can also fix your ride.
- Still unknown: whether consumption varies by vehicle, how much a fill-up costs, and exactly what happens when you hit empty.
Stealing cars in GTA 6: tools, trackers and resale
Game Informer's cover story, based on time with Rockstar's developers, says some cars will need special tools to steal, and expensive ones can carry extra security systems and trackers. The in-game WAiNK phone app shows a car's security, registration cost and estimated resale value, so sometimes the smart play is walking away. We break down the whole fence-and-heist money loop in our guide on how to make money in GTA 6 with car theft and robberies.
Getaways change too. The new Heat system lets police identify you from your outfit and the crime scene, and ditching your getaway car is one of the ways to shake them. It all ties into how the game reads your playstyle, explained in our GTA 6 criminal profile guide.
Custom shops, garages and the Ultimate Edition rides
Rockstar itself listed the Ultimate Edition ($99.99) vehicle content back on June 24:
- the '95 Grotti Cheetah, a mid-'90s sports car;
- a Dinka Enduro motorcycle or Crest Kayak for Jason's safehouse;
- the Ganado Retro Build mod kit for Jason's Vapid Ganado pickup;
- a pink and blue Shitzu Squalo docked at Washington Beach;
- the '67 Vapid Dominator Buggy, a mud monster;
- the Paradise Garage in Watson Bay to store it all;
- two exclusive mod shops, Rideout Customs and One-Eyed Willie's (off-road builds and hand-painted jobs);
- Wyman's Classic Car Collection, a commission to restore abandoned classics.
One caveat worth knowing: those two shops being Ultimate-only doesn't mean Standard owners get no customization. Rockstar just hasn't detailed base-game tuning yet. If you're still deciding whether the extra $20 is worth it, our GTA 6 pre-order guide runs the numbers.
Things to do behind the wheel
Game Informer lists ATV trails, mud parks, demolition derbies, motocross, street and off-road racing, airboating and jet skiing. And for boring trips, the RydeMe app works as fast travel: Jason or Lucia call a driver, with the radio and in-game social feeds along for the ride.
Our take
We were ready to hate fuel. But a 10-second fill-up, a gauge that stays out of the way and a tank that lasts? That's the right dose. It creates stories (a stolen car sputtering out mid-chase is peak GTA) without turning into chores. The bigger shift is smarter theft: trackers, tools and resale values turn every car into a small gamble. Our one gripe: locking two custom shops behind the pricier edition.
FAQ
Do GTA 6 cars run out of gas?
Yes. Rockstar confirmed fuel is in the game and EVs need recharging. A full tank lasts a long while, and preview players say filling up takes about 10 seconds.
Are there real car brands in GTA 6?
No. Like GTA 5, it uses fictional makers such as Grotti, Pegassi and Vapid, even though many models are clearly inspired by real cars.
Can you customize cars in GTA 6?
Yes. Rockstar has confirmed mod shops, two of them exclusive to the Ultimate Edition. Standard Edition tuning hasn't been detailed yet.
